Representative Allyson Schwartz was elected in 2004 to serve the 13th congressional district of Pennsylvania. She is currently the only woman representing Pennsylvania in Congress. Schwartz is a leader on many domestic issues. As a state Senator, she expanded healthcare for children and she continues to fight for children's healthcare in Congress. Schwartz is a strong advocate of energy independence and combating climate change. She is also an ardent supporter of Israel and received the Golda Meir Award from the National Jewish Democratic Council in 2006. Schwartz currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee and Budget Committee. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, David Schwartz. They have two sons.
