Nita Lowey

Elected in 1988, Representative Nita Lowey represents New York's 18th district. Congressional Quarterly has named her one of the fifty most effective Members of Congress. She is responsible for the 500 million dollar aid package to Darfur and has continued to push further U.S. action in the region. Lowey is also a leading supporter of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and continuously pushes for U.S. aid to Israel. She currently serves on the Appropriations Committee and Homeland Security Committee. Lowey lives in Harrison, New York with her husband Stephen Lowey.
