WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) launched a new ad highlighting the strong support for energy independence by Senator Barack Obama. This is the latest ad in a national ad campaign that will continue to appear in local Jewish newspapers across the country until Election Day.

"The pursuit of energy independence is among the most important issues facing the Jewish community, and Senator Barack Obama understands that less Middle East oil means a more secure Israel," said Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of NJDC.

The ad, which focuses on energy independence, states:

    Energy independence.

Barack Obama understands that less Middle East oil means a more secure Israel.
Reducing our dependence on foreign oil is vital both for America and for strong U.S.-Israel relations. Obama’s comprehensive energy plan moves the country to alternative sources of energy and significantly reduces our dependence on Middle East oil, enhancing the U.S.-Israel relationship.

It’s time to end our dependence on Middle East oil.
