WASHINGTON, DC- The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) today lauded the news that Osama Bin Laden—the leader of al-Qaeda and the mastermind of the 9/11 terror attacks—was killed in Pakistan Sunday. NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris said upon hearing the news:

“The National Jewish Democratic Council wants to congratulate and thank our troops and intelligence community for their hard work in neutralizing one of the greatest threats to American security, the security of the state of Israel and Jewish communities throughout the world.”

“Tremendous credit is due to President Barack Obama for his leadership and steady hand in guiding this operation. The President truly showed patience, fortitude and skill in guiding this mission over the course of his presidency. While we must remain ever vigilant, this strikes a serious blow to al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.”

Throughout his presidency, Obama has guided the War on Terror with professionalism and has relentlessly pursued America’s enemies. From his early 2009 leadership in recovering hijacked crew members of the Maersk Alabama from Somali pirates, use of drones to neutralize terrorists and insurgents in Pakistan and the swift apprehension of the would-be “underwear bomber” and “Times Square bomber,” the President has proven to be a strong steward of our national security.
