Luckily hardly anyone has emphasized Kagan’s religion in discussing her qualifications to the Supreme Court. Now comes Pat Buchanan to remind us that ugly obsession with New York Jews has not totally vanished from American political discourse. Only Buchanan could channel Father Coughlin to warn the American public that five of the last seven Democratic nominees (going back to the 1960s) have been Jewish. Buchanan also reminds us that fear mongering about Jews remains a problem on the right as well as on the radical left.

The vast majority of Americans could care less about the religion of public officeholders. NJDC is urging Buchanan’s publisher to stop providing ink for his ethnic/religious divisiveness.
