Washington, DC - Ira N. Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

An estimated 46 million Americans are without health insurance and millions more have inadequate health insurance coverage. We must start finding solutions to solve our health care crisis. With the leadership of the President Barack Obama, the prospect for real health care reform has never looked better.

Obama noted in his speech to the American Medical Association on Monday, “We are not a nation that lets hardworking families go without coverage, or turns its back on those in need.  We’re a nation that cares for its citizens. We look out for one another. That’s what makes us the United States of America. We need to get this done.”

As Jewish Democrats, we recognize the wisdom in the President’s words and appreciate his vision. NJDC is ready to partner with the administration to face the enormous challenges that such necessary reform will encompass.
