Hypocrisy Alert: Santorum Compares Dems to Hitler

Washington, DC: Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) -- who recently made it clear that he finds rhetorical references to the Holocaust on the Senate floor totally inappropriate -- today compared Democrats to Hitler on the Senate floor during the filibuster debate. NJDC Executive Director Ira N. Forman responded, "Sen. Santorum's actions give hypocrisy a bad name. Recently he was wailing and gnashing his teeth at Senator Byrd's Germany analogy, which he called 'inexcusable' at the time; now he compares Democrats to Hitler for their position on Senate rules. The unmitigated gall displayed by Senator Santorum is truly amazing. Does Senator Santorum think the Jewish community won't notice him comparing Democrats to Hitler? Does Senator Santorum understand what the word 'inexcusable' means?
"In this case, 'hypocrisy' is not a strong enough word -- but it'll have to do," Forman added.
