NJDC Slams House GOP for Sixth Vote Against Strengthening Iran Sanctions

WASHINGTON, DC- The National Jewish Democratic Council today slammed the House Republican caucus for voting in a party line vote against a measure that would have barred Iran sanctions violators from receiving oil drilling leases in U.S. territory. NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris said:

“Today’s vote is the sixth vote by House Republicans against strengthening Iran sanctions. As President Barack Obama and our international partners ratchet up the pressure on Iran’s oil industry, voting down a prohibition on leases for oil and gas companies that violate sanctions is simply the wrong step to take. As we’ve said repeatedly, the time is long overdue for House Republicans to quit playing politics and get serious about Iran sanctions.”
