Jewish Democrats Hail Sen. Barbara Boxer Following Over 30 Years of Public Service

Washington, D.C. - Capping a career spanning over three decades in the House of Representatives and Senate, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) announced today that she will not run for re-election in 2016. The National Jewish Democratic Council hailed Sen. Boxer for her tremendous career, congratulating her on her years of service and vowing to help her achieve her final goals in office over the next two years.
Greg Rosenbaum, chair of the NJDC Board of Directors, stated,
“For years, Sen. Boxer has been a tried and true champion for those who have needed her help the most. Her leadership in the fight for protecting the environment, defending civil rights and standing up for our military has been invaluable. Furthermore, Sen. Boxer’s efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the state of Israel have led to an unparalleled level of cooperation between our two countries. In her final few years in office, we are committed to working with Sen. Boxer to move our shared progressive priorities forward. We have been proud to know that such a remarkable Jewish woman has done so much good for our country, and we applaud Sen. Boxer as she moves towards a well-deserved rest with her family.”
Barbara Goldberg Goldman, executive committee member for the NJDC and co-founder of the NJDC Women’s Leadership Network, stated,
