Jewish Democrats Thank Secretary Hagel Upon Announcement of Departure

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that he will step down from his position. We at the National Jewish Democratic Council thank Secretary Hagel for his service. He proved himself to be a strong ally of Israel, supporting measures to help Israel’s security and fiercely opposing a nuclear-armed Iran and terrorists in Gaza. As Secretary, Hagel brought many voices to the discussion, and made sure that all voices were heard.

We are confident that the President’s next choice for Defense Secretary will continue to uphold a strong support for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.
