New Year Ad

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) launched a new advertising campaign that will appear in local Jewish newspapers across the country until Election Day. The advertisement will highlight issues of importance to the Jewish community this election cycle.

Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of NJDC said, "While the Republican Jewish Coalition ads concentrate on spreading fears and disinformation, the National Jewish Democratic Council’s ads will focus on highlighting Senator Barack Obama’s record on issues valued by the Jewish community and contrasting that record with Senator John McCain’s record."

The first ad in this series appeared today in Jewish newspapers’ Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) issues. The ad, which focuses on Obama’s commitment to Israel, states:

A New Year
A New Direction

Barack Obama is committed to a safe and secure Israel.

Senator Barack Obama believes that Israel must be preserved as a Jewish state. He recently traveled to Israel to reaffirm his commitment to a secure, peaceful Israel. Obama introduced the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2007, cosponsored the Palestinian Anti-Terror Act, and called upon the European Union to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations.

“Israel’s security is sacrosanct.
It is non-negotiable.”

-Senator Barack Obama
