WASHINGTON, DC- The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) lauded the nomination of White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew to be the next Treasury Secretary. NJDC Chair Marc R. Stanley and NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris said:

“We are thrilled to see that President Obama has selected Jacob Lew to be the next Treasury Secretary. Lew is uniquely suited to take over at the Treasury given his extensive experience shaping the President’s budgets in his capacities as both Chief of Staff and Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Lew has been one of the President’s closest advisers and helped ensure that vulnerable Americans were not stranded by painful budget cuts or bad policies. He has also been a prominent bridge to the American Jewish community while bringing his own Jewish values into public life. We’re proud of Lew’s service to the President and our country, and we look forward to seeing him as the next Treasury Secretary.”
