Tonight, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference and throughout his speech, reiterated the unbreakable security bonds between our two countries. Prime Minister Netanyahu spent his time before the bipartisan audience, including the majority of the U.S. Congress, talking about the shared values of our two countries as well as thanking the United States and President Barack Obama for our unwavering commitment to Israel’s security. After the speech, National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) President and CEO David A. Harris issued this statement:
“Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke eloquently about the deep, broad and bipartisan wellspring of support for Israel in America. He made it crystal clear to anyone truly listening tonight that Israel and the United States—both Congress and the Administration—are working together towards the goal of building peace and stability in the Middle East and protecting a secure, Jewish State of Israel.”
“For those who weren’t listening, but instead were waiting for something to use as evidence that there is some weakness to exploit, an angle to play up or a political point to make, I want you to know that you do a disservice to this relationship. The Prime Minister’s speech was a clarion call: it is time to end the politicization of the U.S.-Israel relationship and it is time for us to walk together to ensure her security.”
Tomorrow, Prime Minister Netanyahu will address a joint meeting before Congress. The NJDC will be providing comment throughout the day as news develops.
