Washington, DC: The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) unanimously elected Michael M. Adler, Chairman and CEO of Adler Group in Florida, to the position of National Chairman at its May Board of Directors meeting. Adler will be succeeding Ambassador Arthur Schechter of Texas, who has served as National Chairman of NJDC since 2004. Adler's term of office begins immediately.

"It is a great honor to be elected by my fellow Board members, and I'm eagerly looking forward to getting down to work and spreading NJDC's message to more communities across the country," said Adler. "As we approach the 2006 and 2008 elections, the NJDC has critical work to do as we talk with the American Jewish community about the core values shared by the Democratic Party and vast majority of American Jews," Adler added. "In addition, we also have a pivotal role to play as we continue working closely with top elected Democratic officials and Party leaders, to express the concerns of the Jewish community."

Outgoing chairman Ambassador Arthur Schechter noted, "I am thrilled that Michel is assuming this critical leadership role at the helm of the National Jewish Democratic Council. He has made so many profound contributions to the American Jewish community and to the political world, and it's deeply gratifying to know that the top leadership role at NJDC is being passed to him," Schechter added. NJDC Executive Director Ira N. Forman added, "Michael's outstanding leadership skills are well-known in Florida, and in the Jewish and political communities nationally. NJDC is looking forward to significantly expanding our good work under his experienced leadership."

As the chairman and chief executive officer of one of South Florida's largest and most successful real estate companies, Adler has played a significant role in the growth and development of South Florida as a major center for international trade. A devoted member of Miami's philanthropic community, Adler serves or has served as president of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, president of Temple Emanu-El, and national vice chairman of United Jewish Communities. He is also formerly a national officer of AIPAC, and was part of the Youth Leadership Cabinet of UJA. Adler presently serves as the Secretary of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and as a Board Member of both Florida International University and the University of Florida.
