"We stand squarely behind the President and his administration, and the House and Senate leadership, as we work through this"

Washington, DC: The following statement was released today by William B. Dockser, the National Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council:

"On behalf of the national membership and leadership of the National Jewish Democratic Council, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the myriad families who have been profoundly and forever changed by yesterday's heinous terrorist attacks. Every person in this nation has been stunned and overwhelmed by the enormity of this crime, and our prayers join the prayers of millions of other Americans on this national day of mourning.

"This is a day in which Americans are not Democrats or Republicans, or of one faith or another: today is a day when all Americans stand as one, supporting each other through this difficult time. We all stand squarely behind the President and his administration, and the House and Senate leadership, as we work through the despair of this moment and towards recovery and rebuilding, and towards finding the perpetrators of this subhuman act and holding them accountable. Every nation around the world will see Americans and their leaders standing as one in the face of these events - just as they did yesterday, and just as they will tomorrow.

"Americans across this country have been tested by these shocking events, but this country and its people are up to this daunting challenge. United, Americans will pull through this singular moment in history."
