Listed in: Israel, Other Foreign Policy, NJDC News, Press Releases

Today, Ira N. Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) today released the following statement:

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) applauds the passage today of the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act (IRPSA). We commend the U.S. House of Representatives and its leadership for taking these steps to help prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. NJDC is especially appreciative of the strong leadership demonstrated by Representative Howard Berman (D-CA), both in introducing this bill and repeatedly speaking out on this important issue.

IRPSA incorporates the sort of crippling sanctions against Iran that have been repeatedly supported by President Barack Obama and his administration as part of a comprehensive effort to halt Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Obama and the Democratic leadership have continually demonstrated their commitment to stopping Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons—this is only the latest example. Under the President’s leadership, we must continue to work to ensure that Iran does not continue to threaten Israel, the United States and the rest of the world.
