Ohio Jewish Vote Goes for Obama

Listed in: NJDC News, Press Releases

Cleveland, Ohio – Steven Dettelbach, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council's (NJDC) Cleveland Chapter, released the following statement:

Congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden on their historic victory and winning the vote in Ohio. This year, Ohioans and Ohio's Jewish voters sent a strong message to reject eight more years of policies that poorly served Ohio and the rest of America.

Ohio's Jewish community voted overwhelmingly for Obama to help clinch Ohio's 20 Electoral College votes. With Ohio's support of Obama, it is now clear that he will be the next President of the United States of America.

This year, as with every election cycle since 1972, the Republicans claimed that the usually strongly Democratic constituency, Jewish voters, would leave their Party in droves to support the Republican nominee. Once again, today's election results show that the Republican predictions have fallen short.
