NJDC launch direct mail and voter contact campaign to emphasize Israel, energy independence, and reproductive rights.

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) launched a direct mail, phone banking, and canvassing campaign to educate voters about Senator Barack Obama’s and Senator Joe Biden’s records on Israel, plan for energy independence, and stance on reproductive freedom.

In the days leading up to November 4, these mailers will arrive at Jewish households as part of NJDC’s ongoing efforts to inform Jewish voters about issues that they care about most.  Additionally, NJDC has launched a voter contact campaign with surrogate speakers, phone banking, and door-to-door canvassing to reach out to Jewish voters.

"Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden both have impeccable records of strong support for Israel, they have a real plan for energy independence and will protect reproductive freedom," said Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of NJDC. “Before Jewish voters go to the polls, NJDC is working to ensure that Jewish voters are informed about the important differences between the Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin tickets.”

NJDC has reached out to thousands of Jewish voters throughout the campaign and, by Election Day, NJDC will have sent more than 350,000 mailers to Jewish households in Florida, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Here are some excerpts from NJDC’s latest pieces:

“Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe Israel is our only democratic ally in the Middle East. They will fight for Israel’s right to live in peace and security as a Jewish state.”
“Obama introduced the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2007, co-sponsored the Palestinian Anti-Terror Act, and called upon the European Union to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations.”

“Barack Obama SUPPORTS a woman’s right to choose.”
“John McCain OPPOSSES a woman’s right to choose.”
“Protect the right to choose while you still have a choice.”

“Barack Obama and Joe Biden have a plan to secure our energy future.”
“It’s time to end our dependence on Middle East oil.”
