WASHINGTON, DC - Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

We are proud of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote to send the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the full Senate with the recommendation of confirmation. We urge the full Senate to schedule the confirmation vote before the August recess, to allow Judge Sotomayor time to prepare to fully participate when the next session begins.

NJDC will be delivering letters from NJDC’s activists to their Senators calling on them to vote to confirm her before the August recess.

Judge Sotomayor has impeccable credentials and is committed to our constitutional values, rights, and liberties. She will be an outstanding addition to our nation’s highest court.
