CREIGH DEEDS
DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR

ENDORSED BY THE WASHINGTON POST:

“If the current campaign for governor has clarified anything, it is that state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee, has the good sense and political courage to maintain the forward-looking policies of the past while addressing the looming challenge of fixing the state’s dangerously inadequate roads… He has stood with Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, the incumbent, and his predecessor, now-Sen. Mark R. Warner, in support of the sane fiscal and budgetary choices that have made the state one of the best-governed and most businessfriendly in the nation… It is Mr. Deeds whose ideas hold the promise of a prosperous future.”
-“Mr. Deeds for Governor”, The Washington Post, 10/18/2009

ISRAEL:
“Just over a year ago, I visited the State of Israel for the first time on a 10-day mission… What I learned in that time extended beyond ancient history and into our own times.. Wherever I went, I saw a peace-loving people living their normal day-to-day lives and united in their fierce determination for a better future…Our relationship to the country and its markets can only benefit both parties—Virginia can learn and create jobs through partnerships and development, and Israel gains a proud friend and partner, in both Virginia’s Jewish and gentile communities.”
- Creigh Deeds, Statement on Israel 2009

REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM:
“I believe it is up to a woman, her family, her doctor and her spiritual adviser to make this decision. My opponent believes government should make this decision.”
- Creigh Deeds, Richmond Times Dispatch,8/10/2009

STEM CELL RESEARCH:
“Creigh was encouraged by the Obama Administration’s recent decision to lift restrictions on the use of ethically created lines of embryonic stem cells for scientific research. Stem cell research has the potential to improve the quality of life of thousands of Virginians suffering from diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. Creigh will make Virginia a leader in this exciting and potentially life-saving field of scientific research by lifting restrictions on state funding for ethical, science-based embryonic stem cell research.”
- Creigh Deeds, Creigh Deeds Plan for a Healthy Virginia, p.11

ABOUT JODY WAGNER:
