Henry Waxman

Representative Henry Waxman has been a longstanding, influential leader in Congress, serving the 30th congressional district in California since 1975. As the chair of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Waxman has launched investigations and sponsored legislation on important issues, including White House ties to Enron, Halliburton, misleading statements on Iraq, government accountability, transparency and presidential accountability. He is a leader on a health issues, co-authoring the Hatch-Waxman Act, which created the modern generic drug system. Waxman has also been influential on issues such as universal health care, Medicare, Medicaid, AIDS, pollution, tobacco regulation and the environment, both in leading discussions and passing legislation. In addition to serving as chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, he serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Waxman currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Janet Keller Waxman. They have two children and four grandchildren.
