NJDC President, CEO David A. Harris: ‘This is not at all unprecedented’

David A. Harris, President and CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council, appeared today on Fox Business News to discuss President Obama’s unquestionable support for Israel. Despite some claims, President Obama is not the first President to suggest basing talking upon 1967 borders with mutually agreed land swaps. Similar proposals were used by President Clinton and President George W. Bush, as well as Secretary Clinton previously during the Obama Administration. President Obama’s support for Israel is evident in his address and in his actions as well, including his essential financial support for the Iron Dome system and record military partnership agreements.

As Harris said on Fox Business News:

‘It’s almost as if there were two speeches here. It’s the one that the President gave and the one that many people seem to be reacting to.’

And:

‘This is not at all unprecedented. This is exactly what President George W. Bush said almost six years ago to the day as he stood next to Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, when they stood together on the White House lawn; that the 1949 Armistice line as they said at the time with agreed upon swaps would be the basis. This is something that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, this has been a dozen years, everyone has understood would be the basis.

What is unprecedented is that a President of the United States, in an address like this, would give such a lopsidedly pro-Israel address, placing the onus in terms of Hamas and Fatah, that union, in terms of isolating Israel at the United Nations, in every other way, that he would place the onus on the Palestinians, and all of that rhetoric would be decidedly pro-Israel.’

No comments at all? Really? “What is unprecedented is that a President of the United States, in an address like this, would give such a lopsidedly pro-Israel address…” You’re kidding, right?

I would love to see a discussion between these two, at a greater length. Specifically talking about whether or not the onus was indeed put on the Palestinians, as David Harris says that he did. Personally, I have not read, nor seen any evidence of this. I wish Mr. Harris would explain where in President Obama’s speech did he put that on the Palestinians?

I find it hard to believe you think Barach Obama is a supporter of Israel. I guess the Jews in Anthony Weiner’s district feel differently. I thought after the Holocaust we would never forget. Israel is in big trouble with Barach Obama as the our President.
