Today, Ira N. Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

We applaud President Barack Obama for proposing the highest ever U.S. automobile and truck fuel and emission standards. This proposal is a major step in the essential goal of reducing our dependency on foreign oil, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and curtailing climate change.

To strengthen our long-term national security interests, we must end our dependence on foreign oil. For way too long, the U.S. has fulfilled much of our energy appetite through oil imports from countries like Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Libya. These countries do not always have America’s best interests in mind and are certainly not supportive of one of our strongest democratic allies – Israel.

We strongly support the Obama administration’s commitment to improving our environment and reducing our dependency on foreign oil.

The cars that Obama wants GM to make; the smart cars are very small and are not safe on the road they offer no protection when people get in a accident!  Thousands of people have died in smaller cars!  Obama is certainly not improving people’s safety with these cars!  Obama has no right to dictate to the auto industry what cars to make!  The consumers have a right to choose what kind of car they want!  Not everyone wants a hybrid car or a smaller car!  People who have families need a bigger car!    At what point do you want to improve the environment, by decreasing people’s standard of living!  Greenhouse gas emissions is not causing global warming! If anything the planet is cooling off!  Water vapor is by far the earth’s most signficant greenhouse gas and without greenhouse gases life could not exist!!  Carbon dioxide is not a pullutant, its a natural part of the atmosphere——like water vapor!  Plants use carbon dioxide in photosynthesis for gosh sakes!!

And in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Obama is going to ram the cap and trade bill through which means sky high taxes for electricity for everyone which will cause electric bills to sky rocket!  That is what Obama said!  The cap and trade bill will also kill the economy which is practically dead already!  So do you actually applaud this as well?  Do applaud the massive spending of Obama’s well into the trillions!
