JTA: “MSNBC Removes Buchanan Column Defending Hitler”

“MSNBC took down the Pat Buchanan column defending Hitler’s actions hours after a Jewish group urged its removal,” reports JTA in a news breaking brief. In a follow up blog JTA’s Eric Fingerhut wrote, “The National Jewish Democratic Council attacked MSNBC, the cable darling of the left—and got results.”

In case you missed it, here’s NJDC’s release about the issue and the piece we had on The Huffington Post.

In response from David A. Harris, NJDC’s President, said the following:

MSNBC took the responsible action and removed Pat Buchanan’s column defending Adolf Hitler from their website, but no worthy news organization should employ and promote a commentator who engages in such vile fiction.

The fact that MSNBC didn’t take Buchanan’s piece down until asked to do so says something about MSNBC. There is something to be said for a person’s First Amendment right to be an idiot.
