Neurotic Dem: “The Hitler Parade Continues”

Josh Rolnick of the Neurotic Democrat blog has an interesting post on the recent Nazi rhetoric.

An excerpt:

“Where is the Republican outrage as this wave of ugliness washes over our Democracy? Where is the demand that Rush Limbaugh cease and desist his ugly comparisons between Obama’s administration and the Nazis? Where are the brave Republicans who - like the brave Israeli in the video, and Barney Frank, and Rabbi Guttman - have the guts to get in the face of these despicable hatemongers and shout: Enough!”

The respiratory therapist who published an article in the New York Times suggesting that the health care funds not be used on the elderly rather be spent on the young and women is exactly the sort of rhetoric that makes people think this is “Nazi” health care.  Selectivity of care based on age, race, disability frightens people.  It does sound like some thing unthinkable here in this age.  The authors point is why make granny suffer for weeks if she is going to die anyway and why not save the funds.

I think both extremes are not helping this debate but some of this dialogue borders on the grotesque.  The writer I suspect can not be labeled a right wing kook.  Furthermore, if you listen to C-Span or even some of the folks on the White House sponsered web discussions there are average Americans vocalizing concerns.  The Nazi labeling on both sides distracts from the larger issue - which you prefer to ignore.  Why did a few Dem Cmte members really think they could resturcture health care, force it to a vote, spending trillions of dollars without others participating?  That is what should scare us.
