AIPAC Rebuts Partisans and Journalists Distorting Its Policy Memo

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) pushed back against partisans and journalists who have distorted an AIPAC policy memo that slammed the Palestinians into a supposedly veiled attack on President Barack Obama. According to Think Progress:

Pro-Israel Republicans and supporters of Benjamin Netanyahu are having a field day with a newly-released AIPAC policy memo denouncing a Palestinian call for Israel to accept a Palestinian state on 1967 borders with mutually agreed land swaps as a precondition for negotiations.

But asked by Think Progress if the memo was attacking Obama’s remarks about 1967 lines with mutual swaps, AIPAC spokesperson Ari Goldberg responded, ‘certainly not.’ Rather, he said, the memo was intended as a criticism of Palestinians’ erecting obstacles to coming to the table: ‘It’s a statement that we believe that the Palestinian use of that as a condition to restart talks is - that’s what we’re attacking.’

The problem for Jewish Democrats is that the conservative/Republican-dominated media are expert at getting their memes & talking points out there to the general public, and even getting quoted by so-called mainstream sources.  There’s a relentless push to distort what President Obama said, and to paint him as anti-Israel… which he is not.

We ALL need to keep pushing back or this distortion will begin to be seen as factual.  I’ve already received several forwarded e-mails from friends of mine who were sent anti-Obama screeds claiming he is not a friend of Israel, only Republicans love Israel, blah blah blah.  We need to do more to counteract this.

All American Jews—and especially Republican jews—should become familiar with John Hagee’s Christian Zionist organization which claims “absolute” support for Israel, while they believe their work might lead to “Armageddon” and the conversion of Jews to Christianity…or die. And the Republican Jews remain quiet!!
