Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak met yesterday with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Clinton characterized their meeting as “excellent” and the video from their jovial post-meeting press conference is below.

Barak and Gates also held a press conference following the “interesting and important exchanges” during their meeting.  One reporter in the press pool asked of Iran:

“… Minister Barak, are you satisfied with the current United States approach to that threat?”

Barak responded:

“I think that the United States is doing the right thing.  The United States is leader of the world and it’s the only power that can mobilize so many members of the international community, than the U.N., than probably the Europeans, to establish the most effective possible sanctions regime.”

Barak also said during the press conference with Gates that “the American defense establishment and the [Obama] administration” support Israel as it strives to overcome its “lurking challenges and threats.”
