Beck Compares Iott’s Nazi Reenactments to “Cowboys and Indians”

On his radio show today, Fox News host Glenn Beck flippantly mocked and dismissed the seriousness of Tea Party-backed Republican House candidate Rich Iott’s (R-OH) participation in Nazi reenactments.

In the banter with his sidekick (who said yesterday that Iott is being unfairly “demonized”), Beck likened Iott’s participation to children’s games, including “cowboys and Indians” and acting out Star Wars.

Beck’s dismissal is quite alarming given his stature in the conservative movement. Sadly, it demonstrates, yet again, that the boundaries for Beck, his sponsors, and a certain vocal minority of conservatives are continually shrinking when it comes to respecting the memory of those who perished during the Holocaust.
