Cantor: Jewish and Christian Views Only

Alexis Rice — July 23, 2009 – 1:14 pm | Foreign Policy | Israel | Separation of Church & State Comments (2) Add a comment

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), the only Jewish Republican in Congress, thinks that U.S. policies towards the Middle East should be exclusionary based, where only Jewish and Christian point of views can be accepted.

JTA is reporting that while addressing the annual conference of Christians United for Israel, Cantor told the group that, “U.S. policies in the Middle East must be ‘firmly grounded’ in Judeo-Christian principles.” And Cantor went on to say that, “[R]eaching out to the Muslim world may help in creating an environment for peace in the Middle East, but we must insist as Americans that our policies be firmly grounded in the beliefs of the Judeo-Christian tradition upon which this country was founded.”

Cantor is the Clarence Thomas of the Congress - ambition is not justification for turning your back on your people and beliefs - it’s just embracing your own tokenism.
