Chicago Tribune Asks About Guilt by Association

Both parties have played the “guilt by association” game during this election, criticizing candidates’ stances on the issues based on their personal and professional connections.

This Chicago Tribune piece focuses particularly on Sarah Palin’s attendance at a church sermon delivered by the head of Jews for Jesus, noting, “Sarah Palin did not slip out of the pews when the head of Jews for Jesus preached at the hometown church she frequents. […] Some Jews are crying foul after learning that Palin sat through [this] worship service.”

However, Ira N. Forman, NJDC Executive Director, tells the Chicago Tribune his thoughts on judging people by the company they keep:

“Each of these people have thousands of associations. It’s opposition research, like shooting ducks in a pond. It’s stupid and destructive. I wouldn’t do it to Palin for the same reason it should not be applied to Biden or Obama.”
