Support for Israel's actions in Gaza is bi-partisan, most notably from leading Democrats. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stated that "when Israel is attacked, the United States must continue to stand strongly with its friend and democratic ally."  House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) noted that "Israel is acting in clear self-defense in response to heinous rocket attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza." Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA) , the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that "The loss of innocent life is a terrible tragedy, and the blame for that tragedy lies with Hamas." Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and an early, key supporter of Barack Obama, urged "the international community to join the United States in denouncing the daily terrorist acts carried out by Hamas and support Israel's right to self-defense and security." Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) observed that "there is no one to blame for the escalation of violence but Hamas."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) "strongly support[s] Israel's right to defend its citizens against rocket and mortar attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza." To read more from these leaders, as well as others, please click here.
