Conference Call with Senate Dems on Devastating GOP Budget Cuts

As budget negotiations continue between Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill, one thing is becoming clear: the gap between the American Jewish community and the Republican Party is growing wider and wider because of the deep cuts the Republicans want to make to Medicare, Medicaid, and other vital social safety net programs.

As we have pointed out, a number of Jewish groups from across the community are opposed to the Congressional Republicans’ budget plan because it essentially cuts off bubbie, zadie, and the neediest women and children in America from the support they need to live dignified lives.

Tomorrow, the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee (DSOC) will host a conference call for the Jewish community that will discuss the impact of the Republicans’ budget on Jewish communities throughout the country. The call will feature two key members of the Senate Budget Committee: DSOC Chair Senator Mark Begich (D-AK) and NJDC Honorary Co-Chair Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD). The details for the call are:
