On Sunday, members of south Florida’s Jewish and pro-Israel communities rallied to support a strong U.S.-Israel relationship during the South Florida Summit for Israel. The event was billed as a gathering to “protect and defend against the campaign to delegitimize Israel.”
Local members of Congress, including Democratic National Committee Chair Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Representative Ted Deutch (D-FL) participated in the rally while Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon keynoted the event.
During his address, Ayalon praised President Barack Obama and the reinforced the strength of the U.S.-Israel relationship. According to The Miami Herald:
[Ayalon] said President Barack Obama’s relationships with Israeli leaders remained strong.
‘Israel and the U.S. are natural allies for so many reasons,’ Ayalon said.

Both Democrat congresspeople were wonderful, but the power of events like these is their non-partisan nature. To not acknowledge congressman Diaz-Balert’s participation seems a little counter productive.
