The 2008 presidential election turned Virginia blue for the first time in decades. But now, just a year later, Virginians are embroiled in another election that could either keep the state moving in the direction fostered by Governors Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, or move the state backwards.

Get Involved

After returning from Israel last year, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds said, “Israel is the only democracy in the Near East and is our greatest ally.” He supports Israel and understands from first-hand experience the real threat to Israel’s security. Deeds supports a woman’s right to choose and achieving equal pay for women. His opponent, on the other hand, has sponsored over 35 anti-choice bills in the legislature, wants to restrict birth control, and has called working women detrimental to the family. Jewish voters need to know the differences between the candidates.

Join NJDC’s Virginia Volunteer Corps and help us make sure that Jewish voters are educated on the issues in this critical election.

If elected, Jody Wagner – the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor - would be the first Jewish person to hold statewide elected office in Virginia AND the first woman Lieutenant Governor in the state’s history. She has a strong history of leadership within the Jewish community, such as having been President of Jewish Family Services in Tidewater.

Don’t just take a back seat in this election — get involved! There are over 100,000 Jews in Virginia and we can help sway the election. NJDC’s Virginia Volunteer Corps will be working to guarantee that Jewish voters know the issues that are at stake and turn out to vote in Virginia on November 3rd. If you are in Virginia or the DC metro area, come help us out on the ground or with phone banking. If you are further away or can’t come in but have some extra time, let us know and we will get you involved remotely.

Be part of history in Virginia! Join the NJDC Virginia Volunteer Corps and help keep Virginia Blue with NJDC! If you support our goals but cannot help with time, please consider a donation to help our efforts.
