Dore Gold to Rand Paul: Cutting Aid to Israel “Would be Harmful”

In January Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) traveled to Israel to meet with various Israeli leaders. While traveling there he sought to whitewash his own record of calling for eliminating or substantially reducing American aid to Israel. One of the leaders Paul met with was former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold, who is now the head of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. In the meeting Gold told Paul that cutting off aid:

“Would be harmful…I explained the importance of it.” Mr. Gold said that he delivered the same message to Mr. Paul when they dined together during the Republican’s eight-day trip to the region in January.

Senator Paul does not seem to have internalized Gold’s words because, in his post trip conference call, he continued to call for cuts in American aid to Israel.
