Below are some of today’s questionable right-wing statements and decisions:

  • An email correspondence between Todd Palin and Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller (R-AK) reveals tension over Miller’s lack of a clear and public endorsement for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) hypothetical run for president.
  • Miller also declared his support for repealing the 17th Amendment. The 17th Amendment mandates the direct election of Senators by state residents, rather than their appointment by state legislatures.
  • RNC Chairman Michael Steele admitted not knowing what the federal minimum wage pays and considers it less significant to voters than other issues.
  • Steele also stands by Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell’s (R-DE) claims of a secret Chinese plot to take over the United States.
  • Louisiana Senator David Vitter (R-LA) skipped a debate with his opponent and instead attended a Republican-only event.
  • Representative Michele Bachmann (R-MN) accused President Barack Obama of attempting to buy votes through discrimination compensation.
  • Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Florida gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott (R-FL) were endorsed by the fiercely anti-choice Right to Life organization.
  • Mother Jones published a profile of Pennsylvania Senate candidate Pat Toomey’s (R-PA) years on Wall Street.

Also, The Atlantic‘s Chris Good briefly explores the Tea Party movement’s relationship to social conservatism.

And, in case you missed it, The Jewish Week reported that the Tea Party has placed Jewish Republicans “on edge.”
