The Chasm Between American Jews and the GOP Has Never Been Wider

From my parochial perspective - viewing the results through the prism of the American Jewish vote - Tuesday’s results out of Iowa only serve to showcase the dramatic gap separating the top tier of the Republican presidential field from the vast majority of American Jews.

Mitt Romney has adopted positions on key issues far away from the Jewish mainstream,  including courting controversial televangelist Pat Robertson and committing to vote for Ron Paul if Paul becomes the GOP nominee; Rick Santorum is the most anti-choice, socially-conservative candidate of the field  - one who would even ban homosexual activity; and Texas Rep. Ron Paul is a provocatively anti-Israel candidate who unfortunately, for pro-Israel Americans, represents a growing segment of the conservative movement. In the coming months, this trio of top-tier GOP candidates coming out of Iowa will help to remind the American Jewish community why they overwhelmingly remain firm supporters of the Democratic Party. Frankly, the wide chasm between American Jews and today’s GOP has never been more clearly illuminated.

David,

Please do not deign to speak to American Jews.  In fact, you only speak for American Democrats who might also be jewish.

I’m Jewish, though not very religious and yet even with my limited yeshiva education, even I know that your characterization of Jewish faith as it relates to gay marriage, and abortion are way off.  Yet this hasn’t stopped you from making such outlandish claims that the GOP holding such positions means that “the wide chasm between American Jews and today’s GOP has never been more clearly illuminated.”

The fact is the chasm truly exists between the Jewish faith, Israel, and virtually everything the Democrat party in the US stands for.  That some Jews might stand with the Democrats and Obama, despite his destructive, anti-American policies, his antagonistic position re: Israel, and most importantly the long, centuries old experience Judaism has had with leftist, collectivist policies which has always resulted in dead Jews (and often dead non-Jews as well) simply boggles the mind, and does not bode well for the future of Judaism.

Big surprise - my comment wont be approved by single minded moderators because they know David’s column above cannot stand up to my scrutiny.  Pretty sad to say the least.

I’d ask that you give a read to an article I wrote several years ago entitled “Jewish Guilt”:

Perhaps it will help straighten out your conflicted minds, but I highly doubt it.

The last election saw our President getting 80% of the Jewish vote.  With the GOPTP Clown Car I would think it will be the same or higher.

I didn’t for the moment think you would actually post my comment. What a pity
