Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his thanks to President Barack Obama for his leadership on securing funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. Netanyahu also thanked Congress for allocating the funds this past Friday.

Netanyahu said:

I would like to express my deep appreciation to President Barack Obama and the United States Congress for their steadfast support of Israel’s security. The $205 million in funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system will help protect Israel’s citizens and communities against rocket fire from Gaza. America’s unshakeable commitment to Israel in critical times, along with ongoing military and material cooperation, is a testament to our shared values and interests, and the bonds between our two peoples.

The Iron Dome missile defense system has been successful at stopping rockets fired by Hamas aimed at civilian targets in Israel. The technology is revolutionary and has already saved a number of Israeli lives. Click here to read more and watch a video of the system in action.
