Washington, D.C. - The House of Representatives today took a firm stand against rising anti-Semitism across the globe, passing a unanimous resolution rejecting “anti-Jewish hatred” and violence. The National Jewish Democratic Council applauded the passage of H.R. 707, sponsored by Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Pete Roskam (R-IL), Nita Lowey (D-NY) and Kay Granger (R-TX) and cosponsored by 174 other representatives, which condemns anti-Semitism and rejects the trend of violence targeting Jewish communities in response to this summer’s turmoil in the Middle East.
NJDC Executive Director Rabbi Jack Moline stated,
“At a time like this, it is more important than ever to know that we stand together as one people, united against those who would sow hatred and fear in our communities. I am proud to see that the entirety of the House of Representatives stood together in support of this resolution, demonstrating that we are a people who reject bigotry and support peace and tolerance. It is our fervent hope that the global community follows our country’s lead in standing up to anti-Semitism in their own populations, and that we can continue to come together to build on this foundation of peace.”
