On Tuesday, Republican House candidate Sam “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher’s campaign posted an ad implying that gun control led to the Holocaust. NJDC promptly slammed Wurzelbacher for his ad, and our message was carried far and wide—including by ABC, CBS, Fox, the AP, The New York Observer’s Politicker, The Huffington Post, and multiple Jewish and Israeli media outlets. Unfortunately, Wurzelbacher refuses to apologize for his offensive ad—and even called those offended by his ad “whiners.” Just look at some of his Facebook and Twitter posts below.
A sampling of our press coverage appears below.

The National Jewish Democratic Council quickly condemned the video and demanded Wurzelbacher apologize and remove the ad, which the group’s president and CEO David Harris said shows has a “tremendous lack of respect” for the millions who died in the Holocaust and Armenian genocide.
“It is not acceptable ever to invoke the holocaust to make a political point,” he said. “To say it does a disservice to those who perished and the memory of the Holocaust is putting it mildly.”

National Jewish Democratic Council President and CEO David A. Harris criticized the spot Tuesday and called on Wurzelbacher to apologize.
“Using the memories of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust to make a political point is never appropriate, under any circumstances,” he said in a statement. “For Ohio Republican House candidate Samuel Wurzelbacher to imply that these innocent lives were taken because of gun control laws is simply beyond the pale.”

The National Jewish Democratic Council criticized the Republican congressional candidate, who is from Springfield Township and faces Miss Kaptur for the 9th District seat on the Nov. 6 ballot.
“Using the memories of the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust to make a political point is never appropriate, under any circumstances,” said David A. Harris, the council’s president. “For Ohio Republican House candidate Samuel Wurzelbacher to imply that these innocent lives were taken because of gun-control laws is simply beyond the pale. Wurzelbacher—who is just the latest in a long line of Republicans who seem to think it is acceptable to use the Holocaust for political gain—must apologize and remove this offensive video immediately.”
