Aaron Keyak Named Interim Director of NJDC

Today, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) announced that Aaron Keyak, the Washington, DC communications strategist, will be its Interim Executive Director while NJDC transitions to a new President and CEO after David A. Harris’s coming departure from that role on February 8.

“As NJDC undertakes a national search for a new President and CEO, we are very excited that Aaron has agreed to come back to NJDC and help lead us through this important time of transition,” said Marc R. Stanley, NJDC’s Chairman. “Aaron is a talented Democratic operative who is deeply passionate and knowledgeable about the issues the Jewish community cares about most. Together, I know that we will build upon David’s successes over many years at NJDC.”

“I am looking forward to again working with Marc and the rest of NJDC’s board and staff to fight for social justice in America and the unshakable U.S.-Israel relationship,” said Keyak. “We will make sure that the voice of Jewish Democrats is heard and that it continues to play an important role in our nation’s public debate.”

Aaron Keyak served as NJDC’s Press Secretary and Communications Director during President Obama’s 2008 campaign for President and throughout the first year of the Obama Administration. Most recently, he headed the Jewish Media “Hub,” a rapid-response research and media outreach team that helped promote President Obama’s message to the Jewish community. Prior to leading the “Hub,” Keyak was Communications Director for then-Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ). He started in Washington as an Associate at Rabinowitz/Dorf Communications.

Current President and CEO David A. Harris announced in December that he would be leaving NJDC in early 2013. At the time, Stanley praised Harris’s “stellar results” while at NJDC. Keyak will be starting on Wednesday, January 23rd; in addition to running the day-to-day operations of the venerable Jewish Democratic organization, Keyak will assist with NJDC’s search for its next President and CEO.
