NJDC extends a hearty mazal tov to our honorary co-chair Senator Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) for his appointment to the Senate Finance Committee. Cardin has a long record of experience with financial and commercial issues, which makes him uniquely suited for his new position.
Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, welcomed Cardin to the committee by saying:
We welcome Senator Cardin’s experience and enthusiasm to the Finance Committee as we continue our work to increase economic competitiveness and ensure Americans continue to receive the benefits and cost-savings of our new health care law. The Finance Committee is responsible for some of the most challenging issues facing our country and I’m glad to have Senator Cardin on board.
In his new position, Cardin will focus on creating jobs, implementing fair trade practices, and protecting the health care reform legislation passed last year.
NJDC also extends a mazal tov to Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on his appointment to the Senate Judiciary, Armed Services, and Health, Education, Labor, and Pension committees. Blumenthal brings with him a wealth of personal and professional experiences that will serve him well in his committee assignments.
We wish our friends the best of luck and are confident that they will continue their proven track records of fighting for the issues of concern to the American Jewish community.
