The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) today welcomed President Barack Obama’s selection of Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough to serve as his Chief of Staff. NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris said:

The National Jewish Democratic Council is pleased to see that President Barack Obama has selected Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough to succeed Jacob Lew as his Chief of Staff. In selecting McDonough, the President has selected someone who is intimately familiar with strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship and with the Obama Administration’s unprecedented efforts to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran. In addition, McDonough has developed a reputation as one of President Obama’s fiercest advocates, which we know will serve him well as the Administration begins to push hard for its second term agenda. We wish McDonough the best of luck and look forward to working with him in his new capacity.
