Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated President Barack Obama on his victory last night. During his remarks with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, the Prime Minister noted that the security relationship between the United States and Israel remains “rock solid” and that he looks forward to his continued cooperation with the President. Netanyahu also released a statement in which he said that “strategic alliance between Israel and the U.S. is stronger than ever.” Click here or below to watch the video.

Netanyahu also spoke with Obama on Thursday and told the President that his victory was “a vote of confidence in your leadership.”

Other Israeli leaders congratulated Obama as well. Israeli President Shimon Peres said:

On behalf of the people of Israel and in my name, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to you and to the American people on your being elected for a second term. It is a triumph for the American democracy.

Israel and America are bound together by the values and principles that they share, and the ties of friendship that link our two countries and people are historical and unbreakable.

Mr. President, I thank you for your unprecedented commitment and support for the security of Israel in your first term. I know that the United States, under your leadership, will continue to do so in the future, facing the Iranian nuclear challenge in the way you have outlined, as well as working together to achieve peace with our neighbors.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said:

I have no doubt that the Obama administration will continue its policy - whereby Israel’s security is at its very foundations - as well as its efforts to tackle the challenges facing all of us in the region; all the while continuing to strive for further progress in the peace process.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren said:

I wish to extend my warmest congratulations to President Barack Obama on his election victory. President Obama is a dedicated friend of Israel and, together with Vice President Joseph Biden, the administration, and Congress, we will continue to strengthen the historic bonds between Israel and its most crucial ally, the United States of America. Together, we will meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Middle East, address the threat of Iran’s development of nuclear weapons capabilities, and pursue a permanent and secure peace between Israel and the Palestinians. I want to express my appreciation for Governor Mitt Romney, who is also an outstanding friend of the Jewish State, and to reaffirm that bipartisan U.S. support for Israel is a paramount Israeli interest.
