This morning, the United Nations Security Council passed a fourth round of financial and commercial sanctions against Iran. Ira N. Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) issued the following statement praising the Obama Administration and the United Nations:

“Today’s passage of another round of sanctions - the most significant yet - is an important and necessary step in preventing a nuclear-armed Iran. NJDC commends the members of the Security Council who voted for the sanctions for their commitment to maintaining the security of those threatened by Iran.

President Obama and his foreign policy team also deserve praise for the tremendous dedication and leadership they have shown in working to unite the global community on this issue. We applaud the Administration for its effort to foster this major diplomatic achievement. The President’s work has resulted in a huge win for the citizens of the world.

It is our hope and expectation that our members of Congress will continue the President’s work and pass complimentary sanctions in the coming weeks.”
