The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) today applauded President Barack Obama and the European Union for implementing further sanctions against Iran. These newest sanctions are aimed at Iran’s banking sector because of its links to terrorism.

Ira N. Forman, NJDC’s CEO, issued the following statement about the sanctions:

“The National Jewish Democratic Council praises President Barack Obama for continuing to take a strong stance against a nuclear-armed Iran. These latest sanctions, coupled with those recently passed by the United Nations and the European Union, are essential in helping to quell Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

We commend the Administration for its efforts to bring the international community together on this important issue and for working diligently to protect those threatened by Iran. NJDC encourages  members of Congress to work to expeditiously pass further sanctions against Iran.”
