Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

President Barack Obama made a strong choice by selecting former Washington Gov. Gary Locke for Secretary of Commerce.  The President’s selection of Locke shows that this administration understands the need to address America’s economic slowdown and the importance of our international trading partners. Locke’s experience serving as a governor, county executive, and member of the Washington State Legislature will be a major asset in leading the Commerce Department during this critical time.
