Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern (R) has introduced a resolution that attributes the recession to the collapse of national morals. The resolution credits President Barack Obama as a culpable party, insomuch in that he recognized June as LGBT Pride Month and ended the National Prayer Day service.
An excerpt of the bill reads, “WHEREAS, we believe our economic woes are consequences of our greater national moral crisis; WHEREAS, alarmed that the Government of the United States of America is forsaking the rich Christian heritage upon which this nation was built.”
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley wrote, “one has to ignore that fact that the crisis began under President George Bush who was a favorite of the religious right. Obviously, there was a bit of anticipatory economic damnation.”
