Pollak Still Outside of the Mainstream, Standing by Breitbart

It seems like just yesterday that Andrew Breitbart triggered a firestorm through his reckless and irresponsible behavior, taking U.S. Department of Agriculture official Shirley Sherrod’s words wildly out of context—resulting in apologies and corrections from everyone, even Bill O’Reilly, yet not Breitbart himself. Now it turns out that Tea Party-backed Republican Joel Pollak (R-IL), Representative Jan Schakowsky’s (D-IL) challenger in the November election, blogs for Breitbart’s website—and even after this incident, he has refused to cease contributing material to Andrew Breitbart’s BigGovernment website. Pollak’s declaration of staunch support for Breitbart followed admirable and appropriate calls from Schakowsky and others for him to disassociate himself from the website due to its sordid role in instigating the Shirley Sherrod affair and aggravating racial tensions.

Pollak’s staunch refusal to disassociate himself from Breitbart—along with other right wing elements—further demonstrates that he is clearly outside of the mainstream when it comes to the Jewish community. Pollak’s association with Breitbart provides further evidence that Pollak is simply not a viable candidate, and he’s not ready for prime time.
