The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) hosted its Summer Bash over the weekend with “special guest” Orly Taitz (R-CA). Taitz, who has been labeled the “Birther Queen,” was a candidate in the Republican primary race to challenge California’s incumbent Secretary of State.

RJC Director Matt Brooks told JTA that Taitz’s presence at their Summer Bash was a courtesy to a declared candidate.

Brooks’ explanation aside, TPM and The Huffington Post, have characterized her appearance at the RJC event as the “mainstreaming” of Taitz and her false radical views about President Barack Obama. Taitz told Esquire magazine last year:

“I believe [Obama] is the most dangerous thing one can imagine, in that he represents radical communism and radical Islam.” … “He was born and raised in radical Islam, all of his associations are with radical Islam, and he was groomed in the environment of the dirty Chicago mafia. Can there be anything scarier than that?”

The Minnesota Independent also noted in its coverage of Taitz’s appearance at the RJC Summer Bash that Taitz associates herself with controversial conservative Republican icon Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-MN).
